Martin is one of the most enthusiastic and driven entrepreneurs I have ever met. He has earned the success he has achieved.
Martin started his business in 2005, and The One Point “does what it says on the tin”, providing a single point of for all their clients’ technology needs.
Reviewing my input, he said: “David helped me to shape the type of company I wanted to lead and gave me invaluable tools and advice to enable me to succeed.”
My approach involved getting the right people doing the right things, ensuring we had clear goals and that our preferred culture was in place. That meant having some difficult conversations with some people. We refocussed our technical expertise onto our core products and the markets where we made profit. This made sure we had a solid platform for growth.
Martin recalled: “In 2019 David worked with my board, facilitating three business development projects: sales development, financial control and coaching board members. This enabled me to Let Go To Grow and work ON, as opposed to IN, the business.
“The positive effect of this initiative gave me more control of the business because my team know what’s expected of them and have the confidence to achieve our vision. Everyone lives our values; helpful, responsive, trusted, which we test regularly to ensure we are living up to them.
“Our people have seen the change in my leadership style and feel empowered to do the right thing, seeking forgiveness not permission!
“Since attending David’s Step Change programme in 2012 our turnover has grown 550 per cent and net profits sixfold. We have tripled our number of colleagues within The One Point and eight times in the wider group.
“Our confidence is high and has led to us investing in three companies that have added hugely to The One Point’s overall offer and capability.”
